About the Team

The Identity team at Epic Games builds and maintains the core identity and authentication systems that power all Epic products and services. This includes authentication, account management, authorization, and data privacy. We're looking for a Senior Staff Engineer to join our team and help us build the next generation of identity systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable and reliable identity and authentication systems.
• Lead technical discussions and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate with other teams to integrate identity services into various Epic products.
• Participate in on-call rotation to support production systems.
• Drive architectural decisions and best practices for identity services.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies in identity and security.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software development with a focus on backend systems.
• Expertise in one or more programming languages such as Go, Rust, Java, C++, C#, or Python.
• Strong understanding of identity and authentication protocols (e.g., OAuth, OIDC, SAML).
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in designing and working with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., DynamoDB, Aurora, PostgreSQL).
• Experience with API design and development (e.g., GraphQL, gRPC, OpenAPI).
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with identity standards like SCIM or WebAuthn.
• Experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience in the gaming industry.
