Epic Games is searching for a Senior Staff Engineer to join our Marketplace backend team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the services that power the Epic Games Store Marketplace. You will work on critical, highly-scaled distributed systems that serve millions of users and process billions of requests daily. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate critical, high-volume, low-latency, and fault-tolerant distributed systems powering the Epic Games Store Marketplace.
- Lead architectural discussions and technical designs, ensuring solutions are scalable, reliable, and maintainable.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams to define and deliver new features and improvements.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their growth and development.
- Participate in on-call rotation to ensure the availability and reliability of our services.
- Drive continuous improvement in our engineering practices, tools, and processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining highly-scaled distributed systems in a production environment.
- Expertise in microservice architecture and cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS).
- Strong proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Go (preferred), C++, Java, or Python.
- Extensive experience with relational (SQL) and/or NoSQL databases.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform) and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Deep understanding of observability tools and practices (e.g., Sentry, Grafana, Splunk).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A passion for games and a desire to deliver exceptional experiences to players.
