Senior Solution Engineer driving modernization and integration of VA Health IT systems, leveraging HL7/FHIR, VistA, and AWS to deliver secure, interoperable solutions for federal healthcare delivery.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical design and implementation of VA Health IT modernization projects, ensuring alignment with federal standards and security requirements.
- Architect and develop HL7/FHIR‑based API integrations between VistA, EHR, and cloud services (AWS).
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define system requirements, create architecture diagrams, and produce detailed technical documentation.
- Provide expert guidance on lifecycle management, performance tuning, and compliance with VA cybersecurity policies.
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct knowledge‑sharing sessions on VA technology stacks and best practices.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise Health IT, with deep knowledge of VA VistA and EHR ecosystems.
- Proficiency in HL7 v2/v3, FHIR, and API development using modern frameworks.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway) and secure deployment practices.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills, able to translate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Valid U.S. security clearance or ability to obtain one.
