Software Engineer
Lead safety engineering for mission‑critical software, driving safety analysis, risk assessment, and documentation to meet MAPSS standards for U.S. Government programs.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive safety analyses for software systems, ensuring compliance with MAPSS and other relevant safety standards.
- Develop and maintain safety case documentation, risk assessments, and safety plans throughout the software lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate safety requirements into design, development, and testing processes.
- Lead safety reviews, audits, and inspections, providing expert guidance on safety best practices.
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate safety risks, proposing corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software safety engineering, preferably in aerospace or defense environments.
- Deep knowledge of safety standards such as DO-178C, DO-254, and MAPSS.
- Proven ability to produce high‑quality safety documentation and conduct rigorous safety reviews.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Experience with safety tools and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, fault tree analysis, safety case management).
