Software Engineer - Safety Platform
Design and develop software for Discord's Safety Platform, focusing on gaming-related safety features and infrastructure, utilizing Python, Node.js, Machine Learning, and AWS technologies.
Discord is used by over 200 million people every month for many different reasons, but there’s one thing that nearly everyone does on our platform: play video games. Over 90% of our users play games, spending a combined 1.5 billion hours playing thousands of unique titles on Discord each month. Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming. We are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to talk and hang out before, during, and after playing games.
The Safety Platform team is at the heart of keeping Discord safe for all users. We provide the infrastructure and services that enable scalable and reliable safety on Discord. We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is capable of handling ambiguous, complex, multi-milestone projects.
Our team developed Osprey , the open-source investigation and incident response tool that allows safety teams to understand what is happening on their platforms and take actions at scale. Osprey has since been open-sourced and donated to ROOST , reflecting our commitment to industry-wide safety improvements.
As a Senior Engineer on Safety Platform, you'll take full ownership of projects from identifying efficient solutions to gathering feedback and collaborating with cross-functional partners. You'll deliver lovable products while maintaining Discord's high quality bar, utilizing 80/20 thinking and a user-centric approach. You'll embody a growth mindset, diving into new code and technologies to deliver safety solutions that protect millions of users daily.
