Senior Software Engineer - Applied Research Associates, Inc

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance software that connects physics‑based modeling and simulation tools within a Digital Engineering framework.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate ambiguous requirements into robust, scalable solutions across the warfighting capability development cycle.
• Implement best practices in version control, continuous integration, and automated testing to ensure reliability and repeatability of simulation workflows.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
• Engage with DoD stakeholders to gather feedback, iterate on features, and support deployment in field environments.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience in a defense or high‑integrity domain.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, and MATLAB for scientific computing and simulation integration.
• Strong understanding of version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and collaborative tools.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills, ability to work independently, and a passion for tackling complex, mission‑critical challenges.
