The Opportunity
Ulteig is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Senior SCADA Electrical Engineer working in the Automation, Integration, and System Protection (AISP) Department. The Senior SCADA Electrical Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, installing, and testing utility substation systems that bring together multiple sub-systems to meet the operational and regulatory needs of the owner. The Senior SCADA Engineer will be able to develop and implement logic for complex custom applications. The Senior SCADA Engineer will oversee less experienced staff and reports to a Technical Manager in the department.
What You'll Do
- Provide mentoring and review for SCADA point lists, remote terminal unit (RTU) programs, human-machine interfaces (HMI’s), meter programs, metering overviews, and calculations
- Program, install, troubleshoot, test, and commission Remote Terminal Units (RTU’s), Programmable Automation Controllers (PAC’s) & Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s) for renewable and power utility clients
- Develop complete design packages for site network and communication architectures compliant with the power utility client standards and regulatory requirements
- Provides technical guidance to other engineers
- Establish and maintain schedules and provide timely progress reports and project status updates
- Takes ownership of quality and coaches/mentors others
- Maintains positive client relationships, responsive both internally and externally, very frequent client interaction
- Responsible for the completion of projects in the allotted time
- Understands actual time required for most tasks and helps develop the project schedule
- Typically perform work with the following technologies and platforms:

What We Expect from You
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering required. ABET-accredited program or equivalent required
- Professional Engineering (PE) license required
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required
- Demonstrates proficiency and working knowledge of communication protocols (DNP3, SEL, Modbus, etc.) and internet network architectures.
- Network design experience and implementation, networking/IT certifications like Cisco Certified Network Associate a plus
- Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
- Applies current, standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria to complete engineering tasks
- Develops plans, specifications, and observation reports to see that these items are complete, accurate, and in accordance with sound engineering practice
