Senior Robotics Engineer - Halobraid
Robotics Engineer
Lead the development of a groundbreaking braid‑assist device, combining robotics, computer vision, and compliant fiber manipulation. Design mechanisms, implement control algorithms, and bring a novel product from R&D to market.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design and prototype mechanical systems for delicate fiber manipulation, ensuring safety and precision.
- Develop perception pipelines using computer vision to detect hair strands and braid patterns in real time.
- Implement control algorithms and integrate them with ROS for seamless robot operation.
- Write high‑performance software in Python and C++ to coordinate sensing, actuation, and user interfaces.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate product requirements into robust hardware and software solutions.
- Lead testing, validation, and iterative improvement cycles to move the device from lab prototypes to field‑ready units.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; 5+ years of hands‑on robotics experience.
- Proficiency with ROS, Python, and C++ for real‑time control and perception.
- Strong background in computer vision techniques (e.g., OpenCV, deep learning) applied to soft‑material handling.
- Experience designing compliant mechanisms and integrating sensors/actuators for delicate tasks.
- Proven ability to work in fast‑paced, interdisciplinary teams and deliver hardware‑software solutions to production.
