Hardware Engineer
Lead system characterization for quantum hardware, developing measurement protocols, calibrations, and control software using Python, microwave engineering, and cryogenic expertise to advance high‑performance quantum processors.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute comprehensive characterization experiments for superconducting quantum processors, including coherence, crosstalk, and gate fidelity measurements.
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and data‑analysis pipelines in Python to extract performance metrics at scale.
- Collaborate with hardware teams to integrate microwave and cryogenic subsystems, optimizing signal routing, attenuation, and thermal management.
- Implement and program FPGA‑based control and readout hardware for high‑speed quantum experiments.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering best practices in experimental design and documentation.
Requirements
- Ph.D. or equivalent experience in quantum physics, electrical engineering, or a related field with a focus on quantum hardware.
- Proven experience in cryogenic system operation and microwave circuit design for quantum devices.
- Strong programming skills in Python; familiarity with LabVIEW or similar instrument control environments is a plus.
- Hands‑on experience with FPGA development and high‑speed data acquisition systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a track record of publishing or presenting technical results.
