Senior Functional Safety Architect
Role Summary :
Lead the technical definition and implementation of functional safety for next-generation Automotive Compute Subsystems and complex SoCs enabling L4 autonomous driving and humanoid robotics. As the technical authority for Functional Safety, you will define safety architectures, drive compliance with ISO 26262 and IEC 61508, and work across architecture, hardware, software, verification, security, and product teams to develop safety-enabled compute platforms that meet the demanding requirements of AI-driven safety-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Define the functional safety architecture for complex Automotive and Robotics SoCs and Compute Subsystems.
Develop and maintain Functional Safety Concepts, Technical Safety Concepts, Safety Requirements, and Safety Cases in accordance with ISO 26262 and IEC 61508.
Drive safety analyses including FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA, and safety mechanism definition to achieve target safety integrity levels.
Collaborate with system architects and IP teams to integrate functional safety into CPU, GPU, NPU, interconnect, memory, and system IP architectures.
Provide technical leadership throughout the safety lifecycle, ensuring end-to-end traceability from requirements to implementation and verification.
Partner with verification, software, security, and quality teams to ensure robust implementation and validation of safety requirements.
Support customer engagements, functional safety assessments, independent audits, and certification activities as the technical safety expert.
Contribute to the evolution of safety methodologies and architectures for AI-enabled autonomous vehicles and humanoid robotics.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
16-20 years of experience in semiconductor or embedded systems development, with significant experience in Functional Safety.
Deep expertise in ISO 26262 and IEC 61508, with practical experience applying these standards to complex semiconductor products.
Proven experience defining safety architectures, safety mechanisms, and safety cases for Automotive SoCs or safety-critical semiconductor platforms.
Strong understanding of modern SoC architecture, including CPU, GPU, NPU, system IP, hardware/software partitioning, and verification methodologies.
Experience performing and reviewing FMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA, and safety requirement decomposition.
Excellent technical leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence multidisciplinary engineering teams.
