Senior engineer responsible for designing, implementing, testing, and modernizing FAA network and communications infrastructure, ensuring resilient, real‑time data delivery for government aviation operations.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end‑to‑end design and deployment of secure, high‑availability network and communications solutions supporting FAA operations.
- Implement, configure, and maintain Cisco routing and switching platforms, including IOS and SD‑WAN technologies.
- Conduct performance testing, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis to ensure real‑time data delivery to government stakeholders.
- Develop and execute modernization plans, integrating emerging technologies such as VoIP and advanced security controls.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and coordinate with cross‑functional teams to align network architecture with mission objectives.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise network design, implementation, and sustainment, preferably within aviation or government environments.
- Deep expertise with Cisco IOS, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and SD‑WAN solutions.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, network security best practices, and VoIP technologies.
- Proven ability to lead complex projects, conduct rigorous testing, and deliver documentation for compliance and audit purposes.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent are highly desirable.
