Software Engineer
Senior analyst responsible for enterprise metadata baselining, evaluating data catalog tools, and operationalizing governance workflows through structured metadata intake, normalization, validation, and documentation across stakeholders.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in‑person and virtual interviews with system owners, data stewards, and subject‑matter experts to gather technical, business, operational, and security metadata.
- Normalize, validate, and transform collected metadata into catalog‑ready formats, ensuring consistency and completeness.
- Evaluate and recommend data catalog solutions, supporting proof‑of‑concepts and integration planning.
- Develop and maintain documentation, evidence‑based reports, and governance artifacts for the Department of Health and Human Services (DHA) ecosystem.
- Collaborate with data engineering and architecture teams to align metadata standards with data pipelines and cloud environments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in metadata management, data cataloging, or data governance initiatives.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data extraction, transformation, and validation tasks.
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and experience documenting technical and business metadata.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data catalog tools.
- Excellent communication skills for stakeholder interviews and clear documentation delivery.
