Senior consultant leading migration of legacy mainframe applications to modern IBM DevOps toolchains (DBB, Git, IDz, DevOps Deploy) on IBM Z platforms, providing hands‑on conversion, troubleshooting, and client‑facing support.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end migration projects from CA Endevor and other legacy source‑code management systems to IBM DBB, Git, IDz, and IBM DevOps Deploy/IDD.
- Perform detailed conversion analysis, code transformation, and validation of z/OS applications and build pipelines.
- Install, configure, and tune IBM mainframe DevOps tools in complex, multi‑site environments.
- Provide on‑site and remote client support, troubleshooting migration issues and guiding development teams through new workflows.
- Collaborate with architecture and operations teams to integrate migrated assets into CI/CD pipelines and ensure compliance with security and performance standards.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience on IBM Z platforms, with deep knowledge of z/OS, DBB, and mainframe source‑code management.
- Hands‑on expertise migrating from CA Endevor (or similar) to Git‑based workflows and IBM DevOps Deploy.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., REXX, Python, Shell) for automation of build and deployment processes.
- Proven ability to work directly with clients, communicate technical concepts clearly, and resolve complex migration challenges.
- Experience with modern DevOps practices (CI/CD, automated testing) applied to mainframe environments.
