Senior Lab Engineer & Operations Manager responsible for maintaining and advancing a high‑throughput materials synthesis and characterization facility, ensuring reliable equipment performance, data integrity, and seamless collaboration with computational and AI teams.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Own day‑to‑day operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of advanced synthesis and characterization equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment faults proactively to minimize downtime and protect high‑value assets.
- Design and implement high‑throughput workflows that align experimental throughput with computational model demands.
- Collaborate closely with material scientists, computational scientists, and AI teams to ensure data quality and reproducibility.
- Develop and enforce standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and best practices for lab operations.
- Lead and mentor junior lab staff, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a laboratory engineering or operations role within materials science or related fields.
- Proven expertise in maintaining complex analytical instruments (e.g., XRD, SEM, TEM, ICP‑MS).
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a proactive approach to equipment reliability.
- Experience designing high‑throughput experimental pipelines and managing data quality.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally with computational and AI teams.
