Security Engineer
Senior Information Security Analyst responsible for implementing, configuring, and maintaining security solutions, monitoring events, and ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal security policies.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, configure, and operate security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and SIEM platforms.
- Monitor security alerts, investigate incidents, and coordinate remediation activities to resolve threats promptly.
- Develop and maintain access control policies, data confidentiality measures, and system integrity controls.
- Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk analyses to ensure compliance with UT System, state, and federal regulations.
- Create and test disaster recovery and business continuity procedures, ensuring system reliability and rapid recovery.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in information security, with a focus on security operations and incident response.
- Hands‑on experience with SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, QRadar) and network security devices.
- Strong knowledge of access control frameworks, security auditing standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001), and regulatory compliance.
- Proven ability to analyze security events, conduct investigations, and produce clear remediation reports.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or GIAC are preferred.
