Software Engineer
Senior analyst responsible for designing, building and maintaining statistical models and data pipelines, delivering actionable insights through advanced analytics, visualisation and reporting for health service performance and policy decisions.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, validate and maintain statistical models and predictive analytics to support health service planning and improvement.
- Design and optimise data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) processes using SQL and scripting languages.
- Produce clear, interactive visualisations and dashboards for senior stakeholders, translating complex data into actionable recommendations.
- Collaborate with clinical, operational and IT teams to ensure data quality, governance and compliance with NHS standards.
- Lead methodological reviews, provide expert advice on statistical techniques, and mentor junior analysts.
Requirements
- Proven experience (5+ years) in statistical analysis, modelling and data science within a health or public sector environment.
- Strong programming skills in Python or R, and solid SQL proficiency for data manipulation.
- Expertise in statistical methods (regression, survival analysis, Bayesian approaches) and familiarity with machine‑learning techniques.
- Ability to create compelling data visualisations using tools such as Power BI, Tableau or Shiny.
- Excellent communication skills, with a track record of presenting complex findings to non‑technical audiences.
