Software Engineer
Senior safety engineer responsible for defining, analysing and verifying safety requirements of flight systems, applying aerospace standards, conducting risk assessments and leading FMEA activities to ensure compliant, high‑integrity aircraft solutions.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain safety requirements and safety cases for flight control and avionics systems in accordance with aerospace standards such as DO‑178C and ARP4754.
- Perform hazard analysis, risk assessment, and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate potential safety issues throughout the system lifecycle.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate safety considerations into design, verification, and validation activities.
- Lead safety reviews, audits, and certification liaison activities with regulatory bodies and customers.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers on safety processes and best practices.
Requirements
- Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with extensive experience in system safety engineering.
- Proven expertise in safety standards (e.g., DO‑178C, ARP4754, MIL‑STD‑882) and hazard analysis techniques.
- Strong analytical skills with hands‑on experience in risk assessment, FMEA, and safety case development.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to work across cross‑functional teams and with external stakeholders.
- Professional engineering registration (e.g., Chartered Engineer) is desirable.
