About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a multi‑disciplinary engineering team, fostering a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and high performance.
- Architect and deliver large‑scale, highly available infrastructure that supports YouTube Shopping’s global traffic and data pipelines.
- Define and enforce engineering standards, incident response procedures, and service‑level objectives to ensure reliability and uptime.
- Collaborate with product, data, and platform teams to translate business goals into technical roadmaps and deliverables.
- Drive cross‑functional initiatives in a matrixed organization, aligning priorities and resources across multiple stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
- 8+ years of experience building and scaling distributed systems, infrastructure, or compute platforms.
- 5+ years in technical leadership and people management roles.
- Proven track record of implementing incident response, monitoring, and SLO practices.
- Strong communication skills and ability to thrive in a complex, matrixed environment.
