Senior Engineer – Engineering Geologist leading geotechnical investigations and modelling for SMR site deployment, applying advanced geoscience, risk assessment and nuclear safety expertise using PLAXIS, GeoStudio and GIS tools.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive site investigations, including borehole drilling, sampling, and in‑situ testing to assess ground conditions for SMR foundations.
- Develop and validate geotechnical models (PLAXIS, GeoStudio) to predict settlement, bearing capacity, and seismic response of proposed sites.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies in alignment with nuclear safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (civil, structural, nuclear safety) to integrate geotechnical findings into overall project design.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and regulatory submissions for stakeholders and governing bodies.
Requirements
- Degree in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering or related field; advanced qualification preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering for large‑scale infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in PLAXIS, GeoStudio, and GIS software for site analysis and modelling.
- Strong understanding of nuclear safety standards and regulatory frameworks.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex technical information to non‑technical audiences.
