Security Engineer
Lead the design, implementation, and security of a multi‑environment AWS platform using Terraform, EKS, and GitLab CI/CD, while enforcing GitOps practices, observability, and FISMA controls to deliver reliable, secure cloud services.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the Terraform infrastructure across multiple repositories, ensuring provider pinning, semantic versioning, and secure S3 state management.
- Design, deploy, and maintain AWS EKS clusters, integrating CI/CD pipelines in GitLab with automated security gates and GitOps delivery.
- Implement observability solutions (metrics, logs, traces) to provide full visibility into platform health and performance.
- Enforce FISMA controls and security best practices, conducting code reviews and automated compliance checks.
- Collaborate with backend and frontend teams to catch infra issues early and promote secure, repeatable deployments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering with a focus on AWS and Kubernetes.
- Deep expertise in Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, and GitOps workflows.
- Strong background in security engineering, including FISMA or similar compliance frameworks.
- Proficiency in observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or equivalent).
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, collaborative mindset.
