Security Engineer
Lead the design and automation of secure, cloud‑native DevSecOps pipelines for a critical U.S. Coast Guard software program, leveraging AWS, IaC, container orchestration, and MBSE practices.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Define and implement a secure, automated DevSecOps framework that supports the full software lifecycle for the USCG Software Yard.
- Architect and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform and other IaC tools, ensuring compliance and repeatability.
- Design CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, and GitHub Actions, integrating automated security testing and compliance checks.
- Develop containerized environments using Docker and orchestrate them with Kubernetes to enable scalable, resilient deployments.
- Provide Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) guidance, creating and managing domain architectures and model repositories.
- Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to embed security controls, perform threat modeling, and drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in DevSecOps, cloud architecture (AWS preferred), and infrastructure automation.
- Strong expertise in CI/CD tooling, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Hands‑on experience with security automation, vulnerability scanning, and compliance frameworks.
- Proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Python for automation and tooling.
- Background in Model‑Based Systems Engineering or systems architecture, with the ability to translate models into actionable deployment artifacts.
