Senior Data Scientist - Neuroscience Spatial Multi-omics - Merck

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement machine‑learning pipelines for spatial transcriptomics and single‑nucleus multi‑omics datasets.
• Develop novel deep‑learning models to integrate spatially resolved and single‑cell data for disease‑mechanism discovery.
• Collaborate with neuroscientists and experimental teams to translate computational findings into actionable biological insights.
• Produce reproducible analysis workflows, visualizations, and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to the scientific strategy of the Translational Neuroscience Analytics team.

Requirements

• PhD or equivalent experience in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related field.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience with Python and R for large‑scale omics data analysis.
• Proven track record applying machine‑learning and deep‑learning techniques to single‑cell or spatial omics data.
• Strong statistical background and expertise in data visualization and reproducible research practices.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced research environment.
