Senior Data Scientist

Overview

G42 Healthcare is an Abu Dhabi based health technology company active across data and AI, digital health, advanced OMICS, pharma, diagnostics and environmental sciences. We have recently merged with the healthcare arm of the Abu Dhabi Sovereign Fund Mubadala (Mubadala Health) creating a unique organisation with over 7,000 staff spanning omics, technology and healthcare provision.

G42 Healthcare is also the facilitator of the 1 million Emirati Genome Program, operating an NGS facility that can deliver over 500,000 whole genome sequences per annum. We have recently launched a regional partnership with Somalogic, establishing the first high-throughput proteomics facility in the Middle East, and also own the local Health Information Exchange called Mallafi.

G42 Healthcare is committed to developing a world-class, sustainable healthcare sector in the UAE and globally. At the forefront in the battle against the pandemic, G42 Healthcare partnered with Abu Dhabi authorities to develop a massive throughput laboratory in 14 days and spearheaded the world’s first Phase 3 clinical trial of COVID-19 inactivated vaccine. Beyond Covid-19, G42 Healthcare is also developing a wide range of activities to support the health of future generations - ranging from genomics, environmental sciences, advanced diagnostics to digitization programs, manufacturing and cutting-edge research.

We are looking for a Data Scientist with extensive experience or strong interest in Environmental Sciences and Healthcare. You will collaborate with SMEs in Microbiology, Wastewater Information Management, Data Science, and Chemistry. This is an individual contributor position.

Responsibilities

• Research and understand ways in which Data Science is bringing value to Environmental Sciences and Healthcare.
• Be the subject matter expert in Data Science for Environmental Sciences.
• Be the lead for developing data science solutions.
• Participate in discussions with wider stakeholders.
• Develop deploy-ready ML models.
• Present proposals, plans, and technical material to a wide variety of audience from clinicians to board members.

Qualifications

• MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of post-MS work experience.
• Strong experience in structured data analysis.
• Experience with unstructured data analysis (text, images, genomics).
• Awareness of the modern ML literature.
• Fluency in the usual: python, pytorch, tensorflow, sklearn, pandas, etc.
• Experience with MLFlow or other solutions for MLOps.
• Working comfort with software development tools such as git, docker, bash scripting, etc.
• Ability to evaluate ML models from literature, train and adapt off-the-shelf models to a new domain / problem.
• A strong enthusiasm for learning new things is essential for success in these roles.
• An interest in environmental sciences, genomics, and healthcare. It is essential you’re comfortable crossing boundaries of your comfort to learn new topics.
