Data Scientist
Lead advanced analytics for fusion plasma research, developing predictive models and data pipelines to accelerate reactor performance using Python, ML, and deep learning techniques.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines for real‑time plasma diagnostics and simulation outputs.
- Develop machine learning models to predict plasma stability, confinement, and fusion yield, integrating physics‑based constraints.
- Collaborate with plasma physicists and engineers to translate experimental data into actionable insights for reactor design optimization.
- Perform advanced statistical analysis and uncertainty quantification on large, heterogeneous datasets.
- Visualize complex data relationships and model results using interactive dashboards and reporting tools.
Requirements
- PhD or Master’s in Physics, Applied Mathematics, or Data Science with a strong focus on high‑energy or plasma physics.
- 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, and statistical modeling in a research or industrial setting.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow).
- Experience with large‑scale data processing (Spark, Dask) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment.
