Data Scientist
Lead advanced analytics for fusion energy research, building predictive models and data pipelines in Python and AWS to accelerate reactor design and performance optimization.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy machine learning models to predict plasma behavior and optimize fusion reactor parameters.
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, and AWS services to ingest, clean, and transform large experimental datasets.
- Collaborate with physicists and engineers to translate scientific questions into data‑driven solutions and actionable insights.
- Conduct statistical analysis and uncertainty quantification to support design decisions and risk assessments.
- Publish findings in internal reports and external scientific venues, ensuring reproducibility and rigorous documentation.
Requirements
- PhD or Master’s in Physics, Engineering, or Data Science with experience in high‑energy or plasma physics.
- Proven expertise in Python, machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch), and statistical modeling.
- Strong background in SQL, data engineering, and cloud platforms (AWS).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced startup environment.
