About Cera
Cera is a digital-first healthcare-at-home company delivering care, nursing, telehealth and repeat prescription services in people’s homes via technology. In under five years, Cera has expanded to 10,000+ staff across the UK and Germany, delivering 40,000+ healthcare visits a day, and has grown from zero to nearly $250M revenues. Every day, Cera delivers healthcare services equivalent to 40 hospitals or 1,000 care homes, and has grown 100-fold over the past two years making it one of the fastest growing businesses in Europe. Cera currently holds more than 160+ partnerships with the NHS and local authorities, and the company’s technology is used by 2,000+ businesses nationwide. Its technology predicts health deteriorations in patients 30-fold faster than traditional care companies, with its Professional Carers and Nurses responding to over 5,000 ‘high risk’ alerts each day. Since the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Cera has delivered 10 million healthcare visits in people’s homes, created 10,000 jobs, and licensed its recruitment technology to the UK Government Department of Health to recruit 50,000+ people into healthcare careers.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our fast-paced, dynamic and multidisciplinary data team. You will be working to improve client health outcomes by designing and implementing systems and processes to observe signals in health data to predict and prevent exacerbations in key health conditions, improving well-being, reducing hospitalisation and demonstrating real-world impact. This position is offered on a hybrid working contract, some office attendance will be required.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement data collection frameworks that optimally capture and synthesise longitudinal and population data. You will build reusable and robust datasets and models that not only serve current initiatives but also pave the way for future analytics.
- Design, execute, and measure pilots and service improvement programmes to demonstrate the impact of our predictive models and clinically led interventions. This critical work will build the evidence and capability for alternative models of healthcare delivery in a domiciliary care setting.
- Develop a deep understanding of our data, its lineage, and quality. Your focus will be on identifying better sources of predictive signals through the application of relevant technology solutions or focused primary data collection.
- Work closely with clinical specialists to develop appropriate methods or models to determine significant changes in underlying health conditions. Emphasising not only the what but also the why, to ensure our interventions are targeted and effective.
- Scope and conduct complex analysis, breaking down larger questions into shorter, more actionable phases. You will regularly publish your findings and translate your progress to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring the impact of your work is widely understood.
- Leverage your experience in building narratives and storytelling through data. Your ability to communicate complex data insights in a clear and actionable manner is essential.
Requirements
- You have significant (ideally 5 years +) of demonstrated ability in a similar data science role. You're committed to applying your skills and knowledge to impact the health outcomes of our clients.

- Proficient in using languages such as Python, SQL (e.g. BigQuery) and tools such as Sklearn, TensorFlow or PyTorch to develop and deploy machine learning models.
- Experience with cloud environments (e.g. GCP), version control systems (e.g. Git), the principles of continuous integration/deployment, and shipping models to production.
- You thrive working within an agile, multidisciplinary team and have a high degree of self-sufficiency, with a proven track record of delivery in a high-autonomy environment.
- A degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field is considered a plus.
- Experience in the healthcare industry is a plus.
- You are an evangelist for data science, building support for the importance of collecting and leveraging data, and spreading the word about our data products and services.
- Finally, you're purpose-driven. You care deeply about using your skills to contribute to one of society's greatest challenges: affordable care. You understand that our mission to revolutionise care depends on the smart use of data, and you're excited to be a part of it.
