Lead a remote data engineering team to design, build, and scale core data pipelines and platforms using Python, Spark, Airflow, and AWS, while driving best practices in data modeling and governance.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain high‑performance data pipelines and lakehouse solutions for core financial datasets.
- Lead a distributed team of data engineers, providing technical mentorship, performance reviews, and career development.
- Define and enforce data modeling standards, data quality frameworks, and governance policies.
- Collaborate with product, analytics, and machine‑learning squads to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.
- Drive adoption of cloud-native services (AWS S3, Redshift, EMR) and orchestration tools (Airflow) to improve reliability and cost efficiency.
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands‑on experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years in a lead or managerial role.
- Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and big‑data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark.
- Deep experience designing and operating data pipelines on AWS, including services like S3, Redshift, EMR, and Lambda.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining workflow orchestration using Airflow or similar tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to mentor engineers and drive cross‑functional initiatives.
