Data Engineer
Lead the design, development and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions using Python, SQL, AWS and Spark to support evidence‑based policing and decision making.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement robust, scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform and store large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
- Develop and maintain ETL workflows using Python, SQL and Spark on AWS services such as S3, Redshift and Glue.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver high‑quality data products.
- Ensure data quality, governance and security compliance across all data assets.
- Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues and continuously optimise for efficiency and cost.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a data engineer or similar role, with strong Python and SQL skills.
- Hands‑on experience building data pipelines on AWS (S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda).
- Familiarity with Spark or similar big‑data processing frameworks.
- Solid understanding of data modelling, ETL best practices and data governance.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
