Backend Engineer
Senior backend engineer responsible for designing and scaling data ingestion pipelines and platform services, leveraging Python, Java, AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, and SQL to deliver high‑throughput, reliable real‑world health data.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance backend services that ingest, process, and store large volumes of real‑world health data.
- Build and optimize scalable data pipelines using Kafka, AWS services (Kinesis, S3, Lambda), and container orchestration with Kubernetes.
- Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and front‑end teams to define APIs and data models that support analytics and insight generation.
- Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure system reliability and meet SLAs.
- Drive technical excellence through code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend development experience, primarily in Python and/or Java.
- Strong expertise in building data‑intensive pipelines on AWS (S3, Kinesis, Lambda, RDS) and using Kafka for streaming.
- Hands‑on experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) in production environments.
- Proficiency in SQL and relational database design, with knowledge of data modeling for large‑scale analytics.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross‑functionally, solve complex performance problems, and deliver production‑grade services.
