Backend Engineer
We're looking for a Backend Engineer focused on designing and building scalable technical solutions. This senior role requires 5+ years of relevant experience.

- Own architecture and code quality across foundU's core platform
- Mentor and develop junior developers while shaping engineering best practice
- Work across Laravel, PHP, MySQL, RESTful APIs and AWS in a growing business
- Design, develop and maintain clean, efficient, well-tested backend code across foundU's platform
- Collaborate with product owners, designers and stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive timely, high-quality resolutions
- Lead code reviews and mentor junior developers to build the team's capability
- Contribute to architecture discussions with the CTO, Head of Engineering and Tech Leads, and champion the adoption of new technologies and tools
- Support the Head of Engineering and Tech Lead as needed, and drive continuous improvement of team processes, agile ceremonies and technical documentation
- Proven track record designing and delivering successful software projects, with strong architectural and problem-solving skills
- Hands-on proficiency with Laravel, PHP, MySQL and RESTful APIs
- Strong grasp of software development principles, design patterns and unit testing
- Comfortable working within sprint/agile methodologies in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Excellent communicator, able to translate complex technical concepts for technical and non-technical stakeholders alike
- Demonstrated leadership capability and a genuine desire to mentor and elevate team members; knowledge of Australian HR/Payroll is a bonus
