Senior AI/ML Applied Scientist - Optum

Key Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and deploy production‑grade machine learning models for clinical and operational use cases.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate complex healthcare problems into data‑driven solutions.
• Implement scalable data pipelines and feature engineering workflows on AWS services.
• Conduct rigorous model validation, bias assessment, and performance monitoring.
• Publish findings in internal knowledge bases and external conferences.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in applied machine learning, preferably in healthcare.
• Proficiency in Python, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and SQL.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS SageMaker, S3, and related services.
• Strong statistical background and familiarity with model interpretability techniques.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
