About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement statistical and machine‑learning models to analyze forest inventory, growth, and health data.
- Process and integrate multi‑source geospatial datasets, including LiDAR, satellite imagery, and field measurements, using GIS and remote‑sensing tools.
- Automate data pipelines and reproducible workflows in Python and R for large‑scale forest data handling.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams to translate analytical results into actionable recommendations for forest management and policy.
- Document methods, produce technical reports, and present findings to scientific and stakeholder audiences.
Requirements
- Master’s or PhD in Forest Science, Ecology, Data Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python and R for data analysis, modeling, and visualization.
- Strong experience with GIS software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS) and remote‑sensing data processing.
- Solid understanding of machine‑learning algorithms and statistical methods applied to ecological data.
- Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams, with good communication skills in English.
