About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the monitoring and data programme, aligning scientific output with organisational goals.
- Manage and mentor a team of senior scientists and data specialists, overseeing performance, development and line‑management duties.
- Design, implement and evaluate large‑scale biological monitoring projects, ensuring robust data collection and quality assurance.
- Lead data analysis and statistical modelling efforts using R and Python to generate actionable insights for conservation research.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional partners, including the Director of Science, to integrate monitoring results into broader scientific initiatives.
- Develop and maintain project plans, budgets and reporting mechanisms to meet timelines and stakeholder expectations.
Requirements
- Advanced degree (PhD or equivalent) in Ecology, Ornithology, Conservation Science or a related field.
- Proven experience leading multi‑disciplinary monitoring programmes and managing scientific teams.
- Strong expertise in data analysis, statistical modelling and programming with R and/or Python.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, with a track record of collaborative project delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex scientific data into clear, actionable recommendations.
