Researcher / PhD Student in Quantum Systems - Leibniz-Institut fur Photonische Technologien

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and characterize photonic quantum hardware, including integrated waveguides, single‑photon sources, and detectors.
• Develop and maintain control and data‑analysis software using Python and MATLAB for experiments at cryogenic temperatures.
• Perform theoretical modeling and numerical simulations to support experimental results and guide system optimization.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate quantum devices into larger quantum information processing architectures.
• Publish research findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present results at conferences.

Requirements

• Master’s degree (or higher) in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Photonics, or a related field.
• Strong background in quantum optics, photonic devices, and experimental techniques.
• Proficiency in Python and MATLAB for data acquisition, analysis, and simulation.
• Experience with cryogenic measurement setups and low‑noise electronics.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills, scientific writing ability, and capacity to work both independently and in a collaborative research environment.
