The flat functional structure within Flipkart engineering enables data scientists to focus on excellence and create a deep sense of ownership at every stage of work.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

In this role, you will lead the Planning data science team that is dedicated towards building DS solutions for overall inventory and supply planning within the Flipkart supply chain. These decisions drive critical business metrics such as in-stock, speed, cost and reliability, and have a major impact to bottomline, topline and customer experience for Flipkart. Data scientists working in our team build models to enable demand forecasting, network planning and design, manpower capacity planning, inventory policy design, inventory placement and replenishment, etc.

In This Role, You Will

• Help the Data Science team to formulate and architect future AI / ML / OR models for Flipkart Products
• Guide the team through decisions around applying Data Science and Data Modelling techniques to drive innovation, efficiency productivity and automation within Flipkart’s ecosystem
• Ensure timely deployment of models in a high-pace business, large-scale production environment
• Coach the Data Science team on various challenges and trade-offs in developing models that can accurately employ real data
• Build deep partnerships with business, product management, and technology leaders
• Lead, hire, manage and mentor a team of highly qualified Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Software Engineers
• Help develop systems-driven framework for tracking the quality, consistency, applicability and performance of data inputs and outcomes
• Build and leverage tools that allow for democratization and easy consumption and analysis of data across the organization.

Basic Qualification

• Education Qualification: B.Tech / M.Tech in CS / ML / AI / OR / Statistics with demonstrable experience through publications / deployed solutions / projects.
• Should have formally managed small/large teams of DS, data Engineers with DS capabilities for at least 2-4 Yrs.
• Should have significant experience in developing and deploying DS solutions for supply chain settings.
• Strong technical skills in machine learning / AI, including optimization, simulation, regression techniques, neural networks, decision trees, cluster analysis, pattern recognition, probability theory, stochastic systems, Bayesian inference, and statistical techniques.
