Relief Chief Engineer responsible for safe, efficient operation of ship propulsion and power systems, overseeing maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation while supporting fleet requirements on a flexible schedule.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective operation of propulsion and power systems aboard the vessel.
- Monitor, maintain, and document all mechanical and electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts, diagnosing and resolving complex engineering issues to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with the Senior Chief Engineer and crew to plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
- Prepare detailed reports and logs for shipboard operations, maintenance activities, and incident investigations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in marine propulsion and power system management.
- Strong knowledge of vessel maintenance practices, safety regulations, and engineering documentation.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities in a dynamic shipboard environment.
