Recreation Programmer - City of Burnaby

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor in designing, scheduling and implementing a variety of recreational, social and cultural programs.
• Supervise and mentor program staff, ensuring quality service delivery and adherence to policies.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community groups, schools, and external vendors to enhance program offerings.
• Promote programs through marketing materials, social media and public outreach to maximize participation.
• Prepare and monitor program budgets, track expenses and generate reports for management.
• Evaluate program effectiveness through participant feedback and performance metrics, recommending improvements.

Requirements

• Post‑secondary education or equivalent experience in recreation, leisure services, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in program planning, event coordination and staff supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective community and stakeholder engagement.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience managing program budgets.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as program schedules require.
