Mid‑Principal Protection and Controls Engineer responsible for designing, testing, and maintaining protection schemes and control systems for transmission assets, ensuring reliability and compliance with industry standards.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and validate protection and control schemes for high‑voltage transmission lines and substations.
- Conduct relay coordination studies, fault analysis, and system reliability assessments.
- Collaborate with operations, planning, and maintenance teams to integrate protection solutions into SCADA and EMS platforms.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including relay settings, test procedures, and compliance reports.
- Lead troubleshooting and corrective actions for protection system failures and performance issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master’s preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in transmission protection and control engineering.
- Proficiency with relay manufacturers (Siemens, SEL, ABB) and SCADA/EMS systems.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to perform fault studies and coordination calculations.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities in a multidisciplinary environment.
