Software Engineer
Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced telecommunications networks, ensuring high reliability and performance across Manitoba Hydro’s infrastructure using RF, fiber optics, and SCADA technologies.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain telecommunications systems, including RF, fiber optic, and microwave links, to support operational and customer service needs.
- Lead technical reviews and troubleshooting for network performance issues, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal service quality.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate telecommunications solutions with SCADA and other control systems.
- Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, schematics, and project plans using CAD and other design tools.
- Provide expert guidance on emerging technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Professional Engineer (PE) designation in Telecommunications or related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in telecommunications network design, implementation, and maintenance.
- Proficiency with RF planning, fiber optic installation, and SCADA integration.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results in a dynamic environment.
