About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Define and own the end‑to‑end technical architecture for a new Satellite Control Center supporting NOAA's Space Weather Observations Mission Operations Services.
- Lead a cross‑functional engineering team through concept, design, integration, test, and deployment of high‑availability, real‑time mission operations software.
- Develop and review detailed system specifications, interface control documents, and verification plans ensuring compliance with mission requirements.
- Implement core components in C++ on Linux platforms, leveraging cloud services for scalability, resilience, and data distribution.
- Apply Agile and DevSecOps practices to manage iterative development, continuous integration, and secure deployment pipelines.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in systems architecture and lead systems engineering for satellite or aerospace mission operations.
- Proficiency in C++ development on Linux, with strong knowledge of real‑time operating systems and high‑availability design patterns.
- Demonstrated experience designing cloud‑based or hybrid architectures (e.g., AWS, Azure) for mission‑critical applications.
- Expertise in requirements management, interface control, and verification & validation processes.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of guiding multidisciplinary teams in complex, multi‑year programs.
