Principal RF Systems Engineer - Northrop Grumman
Systems Engineer
Lead the development of advanced RF systems, overseeing architecture, simulation, and testing of microwave and antenna solutions for defense platforms, while mentoring engineers and ensuring compliance with security and performance requirements.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Define and lead the architecture of high‑performance RF subsystems for aerospace and defense applications.
- Perform detailed RF, microwave, and antenna design using tools such as HFSS, ADS, and CST.
- Develop and validate signal‑processing algorithms in MATLAB and C++ to meet stringent performance and security criteria.
- Plan, execute, and analyze laboratory and field test campaigns, interpreting measurement data to drive design refinements.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including mechanical, software, and systems engineering—to integrate RF solutions into complex platforms.
- Mentor junior engineers, conduct technical reviews, and ensure compliance with Secret‑level security requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field with 10+ years of RF/microwave design experience.
- Proficiency in RF simulation tools (HFSS, ADS, CST) and hands‑on test equipment (network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators).
- Strong programming skills in MATLAB and C++ for modeling and algorithm development.
- Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects, manage technical risk, and deliver results in a secure, classified environment.
- Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one; willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
