Principal FPGA Engineer - Raytheon
Software Engineer
Lead complex FPGA development projects, driving architecture, RTL design, verification, and high‑speed digital integration using VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, and Python scripting to deliver mission‑critical hardware solutions.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Define and lead the architecture of high‑performance FPGA subsystems for defense and aerospace applications.
- Develop, simulate, and synthesize RTL code in VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog, ensuring timing closure and resource optimization.
- Implement and validate high‑speed serial interfaces, clock domain crossing, and signal integrity across multi‑gigabit links.
- Create and execute comprehensive verification plans, including testbench development, constrained random testing, and hardware‑in‑the‑loop validation.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—hardware, software, and systems engineers—to integrate FPGA solutions into larger platforms.
- Mentor junior engineers, establish best practices, and contribute to technical roadmaps and design standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of FPGA design experience.
- Expertise in VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog for complex, high‑speed designs.
- Proven track record with high‑speed digital design, clock management, and signal integrity analysis.
- Strong verification skills using simulation, formal methods, and hardware‑based testing.
- Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for automation and test development.
