Principal Engineer - I&C GIC Tools & Applications - Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance SQL databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle) for GIC tools and applications.
• Collaborate with software developers and I&C stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into robust database schemas and ETL processes.
• Implement and optimize ETL pipelines, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and timely delivery to downstream applications.
• Perform database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization to meet strict latency and throughput targets.
• Document database designs, data models, and best practices; provide training and support to cross‑functional teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in database engineering with a focus on SQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
• Strong background in data modeling, ETL design, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
• Experience working in a regulated or safety‑critical environment is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
