Principal Data Scientist - Applied AI - Walmart

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with HR business leaders to translate complex, ambiguous problems into concrete AI product concepts and prototypes.
• Design, implement, and evaluate end‑to‑end machine learning pipelines, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, and validation.
• Develop production‑grade code and scalable architectures on AWS, ensuring models are robust, maintainable, and meet performance SLAs.
• Lead model monitoring, bias detection, and continuous improvement processes once solutions are in production.
• Mentor senior data scientists and engineers, establishing best practices for reproducibility, documentation, and collaborative development.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in data science or machine learning, with a proven track record of delivering production AI systems.
• Expertise in Python and ML/DL libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit‑learn.
• Strong background in statistical modeling, natural language processing, and deep learning techniques.
• Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and infrastructure‑as‑code for model deployment and scaling.
• Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders and drive cross‑functional alignment.
