Systems Engineer
Lead design, implementation, and optimization of data pipelines and platforms, leveraging Python, SQL, Airflow, and AWS to deliver reliable, scalable data operations for statewide initiatives.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and maintain robust, automated data pipelines and ETL processes across cloud and on‑premise environments.
- Design data models and schemas that support analytics, reporting, and machine‑learning workloads for state agencies.
- Implement CI/CD practices, monitoring, and alerting to ensure high availability and performance of data platforms.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define data requirements, standards, and governance policies.
- Mentor junior engineers and drive adoption of best practices in data engineering and operations.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in data engineering, with deep expertise in Python and SQL.
- Proven experience designing and operating data pipelines using Apache Airflow or similar orchestration tools.
- Strong knowledge of cloud services (AWS preferred), including S3, Redshift, Lambda, and IAM.
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing concepts, and performance tuning.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work autonomously in a remote environment.
