Security Engineer
Lead advanced cybersecurity initiatives for a major Air Force program, driving threat modeling, risk assessment, incident response, and secure architecture across cloud and network environments.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement robust security controls for a portfolio of over 200 ISR SOF programs, ensuring alignment with Air Force and DoD standards.
- Lead threat modeling and risk assessment activities, producing actionable mitigation plans and security architecture diagrams.
- Design and oversee incident response strategies, including detection, containment, and recovery across cloud and on‑prem environments.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate security into the full software development lifecycle and system acquisition processes.
- Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks (NIST, DoD RMF, FedRAMP).
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior security engineers and program stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years of cybersecurity experience in defense or high‑security environments.
- Deep expertise in threat modeling, risk assessment, and secure architecture design.
- Proficiency with cloud security (AWS, Azure) and network security technologies.
- Strong knowledge of DoD security standards (RMF, NIST SP 800‑53) and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence senior leadership.
