Principal Automation Engineer leading the design, installation, and maintenance of critical control systems on core manufacturing platforms, leveraging PLC, SCADA, OPC UA, and industrial Ethernet to ensure reliability and performance.
About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems across the manufacturing platform.
- Design and implement robust industrial Ethernet networks, ensuring secure and reliable communication between field devices and control servers.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts for data acquisition, diagnostics, and automated reporting to support real‑time monitoring and predictive maintenance.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate new equipment and interfaces, ensuring seamless operation within the existing control architecture.
- Perform root cause analysis, troubleshoot complex control issues, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in automation engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, or equivalent) and SCADA/HMI platforms.
- Strong knowledge of industrial Ethernet protocols, OPC UA, and network security best practices.
- Hands‑on experience with Python scripting for automation and data handling.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, with a proven track record of delivering high‑availability control solutions.
