About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to inbound calls and electronic inquiries, delivering accurate, evidence‑based poison information to clinicians, patients, and the public.
- Assess exposure scenarios, recommend immediate management steps, and coordinate with emergency departments and poison control networks.
- Document all consultations in the electronic health record, ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
- Develop and update educational materials, protocols, and reference resources for staff and community partners.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews, contributing toxicology expertise to improve patient outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Toxicology, Nursing, or related health science; advanced certification in poison information (e.g., CPEP) preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a poison control center, clinical toxicology, or emergency pharmacy setting.
- Strong knowledge of toxic agents, antidotes, and exposure management guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Proficiency with medical documentation systems and ability to work independently in a high‑volume, shift‑based environment.
