About the Role
As the AI Lead in CTO within HSBC, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the bank's AI capabilities, enhancing customer experiences, and driving operational efficiency through the development and deployment of cutting-edge Generative AI solutions. You will lead a diverse team of engineers, architects, product managers, and programme managers to enable, implement, and manage AI capabilities, contributing to the bank's digital transformation.
Principal Responsibilities
- Work with architecture to deliver the AI Technology Strategy and Vision.
- Work with Global Business and Global functions to enable and manage AI capabilities at scale.
- Deliver a set of FinOps capabilities for AI to ensure cost transparency and optimization of investments and define, own and deliver the business case for AI within technology.
AI use within CTO
- Develop use cases, business cases, and deployment plans for the use of AI within CTO.
- Ensure the implementation of operational best practice for AI and drive continuous education across CTO and HSBC.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in Generative AI and ensure that the bank remains at the forefront of technology.
- Engage with the wider AI community both internally and external to HSBC to ensure market awareness.
Risk, Governance, Controls and Compliance
- Risk: Working with 2 LOD to ensure that the Risk framework is optimized for AI.
- Governance: Ensure that technology and application Governance are optimized for AI.
- Controls: Ensure that IT, Data and Cyber security controls are optimized for AI.
- Ensure that AI capabilities adhere to regulatory and compliance standards within the banking industry.
- Work with and advise 3rd party management on AI Risk management.
Leadership And Strategy Responsibilities
- As the Platform Lead - AI, ensure that all risks are managed and maintain the platform within HSBC Risk appetite.
- Ensure HSBC technologies are standardized and aligned to customer needs.
- Drive FinOps capabilities and best practice for AI with the Vendor, internal customers, and embed in the platform.
- Build strong working relationships with Product Lines and business leaders to ensure teams meet expectations and contribute to achievement of business goals.
- Collaborate with CTO ExCo business leaders to develop short- and long-term strategic plans.
- Support and facilitate innovative and experimental development work to test new ideas, within bounded cost and time frames.
- Provide leadership, vision, and direction for the CTO organization.
Requirements
- Proven experience in leading AI teams and implementing Generative AI solutions.
- Ideally have experience of S166 regulation.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve their goals.
- Knowledge of Cloud technologies and related tools and services.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to analyze complex technical and business problems and develop effective solutions.
- Ability to work in an unstructured and changing environment and be comfortable with uncertainty.
- Strong drive to get things done and work in an environment with many moving parts but still find a way forward.
- Leading and directing executive and non-executive work groups and effecting change through people.
- Managing operational functions, directing process re-engineering and efficiency exercises.
- Strong ability to balance risks vs rewards and maximizing the cost effectiveness and profitability for the business.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements related to cloud services, such as GDPR, CCPA, or PCI-DSS is a plus.
