As a Platform Engineer III, you will be a technical contributor for the team that manages the core integration platform of U.S. healthcare systems. Availity connects millions of providers with thousands of health plans, and our API Gateway platforms are the key to delivering services end to end. In this role you will:
- Manage and evolve our API Gateway integration platforms at enterprise scale
- Manage the tooling and support for intelligent automated integration with flexibility and reliability as your mission
- Analyze and refine API definition standards and drive support for innovation at scale in our API ecosystem
- Guide and mentor junior engineers while setting the bar for operational excellence

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 4-6 years of relevant technical and business experience in IT systems delivery, operations, and support (preferably in healthcare or high-transaction environments)
- 3+ years of experience in technical engineering efforts involving implementation and management of IT systems.
- API Gateway management at scale
- HTTP integration and API authentication frameworks
- SSL certificates (validation, encryption, authentication, signature)
- Infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, Helm) and AWS services (VPC, IAM, EC2, EKS, Istio)
- Observability and monitoring tools (preferably Splunk, New Relic)
- Experience bridging infrastructure and development teams, ensuring alignment of roadmaps and goals.
- Ability to lead and guide technical teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- SaaS experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical systems.
- Familiarity with API management and gateway software (preferably Tyk) and COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) product management
- Background in metrics-driven reliability engineering (SLOs, SLIs, error budgets)
- Experience with scripting/programming (Go, JavaScript, Python, etc.)
